Consultant Anaesthetist

Professor Gudrun Kunst has worked closely with the Baskerville Clinic for many years. She trained at Heidelberg University Hospital and at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. Her clinical interests include perioperative medicine, cardiovascular anaesthesia and anaesthesia for day surgery procedures. Gudrun has been Consultant Anaesthetist at King’s College Hospital since 2004 and she was the Clinical Lead in Cardiac Anaesthesia for 6 years. Currently, she is the anaesthetic and perioperative research lead at King’s College Hospital. She was promoted to Professor of Anaesthesia at King’s College London in 2020 - a position, which had been vacant for almost 2 decades.

Professor Kunst examines regularly at the Primary FRCA and is Director of the Pan-London Anaesthetic Academic Training Program. In 2017 she was awarded the National Royal College of Anaesthetists—NIHR Senior Research Clinician Prize and in 2019 the Royal College of Anaesthetists Macintosh Professorship. She is currently the Scientific Officer and Treasurer of the Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists and Critical Care.
